“Sparkle” is a song written by Kristal Barrett-Stuart for her daughter Kalli (Co-written by Carolyn Dawn Johnson). It is also the official song of the Sparkle Project BC, an anthem that celebrates the natural ‘sparkle’ in every young woman. The official release date was May 11th, 2015.
The video production company Spiro Creative also donated the production of an inspirational music video for Sparkle. The song was produced and financially sponsored by CCMA and Juno award-winning Canadian country singer/songwriter Carolyn Dawn Johnson, who happens to be one of Kristal’s idols. The inspirational music video also includes some special celebrity appearances by Carolyn herself, Madeline Merlo and Victoria Duffield.
"To have Carolyn Dawn Johnson produce and sponsor this song is an absolute dream come true,” exclaims Barrett-Stuart. “She is not only one of my idols, she is also a remarkably talented singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Carolyn oozes so much sparkle and is the perfect person to bring this song to life. Somebody pinch me!”
"Kristal and her Sparkle Project touched my heart,” says Johnson. “I knew I had to make time to help because it rings very true to me and I love to empower other females. Kristal's passion and efforts will directly benefit young girls and women and I'm thrilled to be a part of making her dreams come true. There is great power in setting goals, and I'm proud to be involved in a project that teaches others to shoot for the moon.”
Johnson rose to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart in 1999 with “Single White Female”, a song she co-wrote with Chely Wright. In 2001, the Juno Awards named her Female Artist of the Year.
Partial proceeds from the sale of the song, will fund bursaries for young girls who need financial assistance to pursue their dreams.
